I find money businesses didn’t know they were owed. 25 years in accountancy. My own practice since November 2020. One client at a time. Done properly.

01 — The origin
I left a 20-year career because I couldn’t look a client in the eye and pretend what they were getting was good enough.”
I started working in accountancy in 2000. Over the next twenty years I worked across construction, manufacturing, and transport — every kind of small business South Yorkshire produces. The same problem kept appearing: businesses given a reactive, impersonal service that left them overpaying and underprepared.
I saw it from the inside. Money missed. Questions ignored. Clients who hadn’t spoken to the same person twice in three years. I raised it when I could. Mostly I was told to log it and move on.
In November 2020, I stopped moving on. I started Dearne Accountancy Services with one principle: look properly. Every year. At everything. I find something in almost every new client I take on — not because I’m exceptional, but because for the first time, someone is genuinely looking.

02 — The journey
25 years in practice.
Here’s what they taught me.
First role in accountancy
Started from the ground up. Learned the foundations — and immediately noticed the gap between what small businesses needed and what they were receiving.
Construction, manufacturing & transport
Moved into South Yorkshire's trade industries. CIS deductions, job-costing, thin margins — became second nature, not theory.
AAT qualification
Formal recognition of almost a decade in practice. Accountancy isn't about credentials. It's about what you actually find.
Senior accountant, regional practice
Responsibility for a portfolio of local businesses. More experience. More patterns. More evidence of what South Yorkshire businesses routinely missed.
The moment everything changed
Found significant overpaid tax in a client's records. Was told to log it and move on. Decided that was the last time.
Founded Dearne Accountancy Services
November 2020. One principle: look properly. Every client, every year — no juniors, no handoffs, no exceptions.
Trusted across South Yorkshire
Every client came through a referral or found me looking for something better. No plans to change any of it.
03 — How I work
Three things I’ll
never compromise on.
You get me. Every call.
No juniors. No switchboard. No re-explaining your situation to someone new. You deal with the same person who reviewed your accounts last year — the person who already knows your business.
"Not just an extremely reliable accountant, but also a sounding board for new ideas." — Jonathan M, haulage client since 2021
I look for money. Not just somewhere to file it.
Most accountants file your returns and send the invoice. I read your books looking for what's been missed — unclaimed allowances, overpaid tax, CIS deductions. That's not an extra. That's the whole job.
"She has already saved me significant money through careful planning I'd never have thought of myself." — Ben G, limited company director
Plain English. No exceptions.
You should understand everything I tell you — not a summary, everything. If my explanation isn't clear, that's my problem to fix. Plain English isn't a premium add-on. It's the minimum.
"She explains things in a simple to understand way. I've been able to reclaim tax I've overpaid." — Amine BN, self-assessment client
“What once felt daunting and stressful is now completely straightforward. I genuinely wouldn’t trust anyone else.”

You'll never need to chase me06 — Who I help
Businesses that need proper accountancy.
Mostly construction, manufacturing, and transport businesses across South Yorkshire — plus sole traders and limited company directors who are serious about their finances — and CIS subcontractors across South Yorkshire.
I don’t take on clients just to fill a roster. If your situation is genuinely beyond what I handle, I’ll tell you honestly and point you somewhere better.
Not sure if you’re a fit? Get in touchYour deductions are probably miscalculated. I specialise in CIS and know exactly where contractors overpay — and I claim it back for you.
Self assessment doesn't have to be a last-minute scramble. I'll make sure you only pay what you owe — not a penny more.
Accounts, payroll, dividends, Corporation Tax — handled properly and proactively all year round, not just at year end.
I work with South Yorkshire businesses turning £500k+. I know your industry, your pressures, your margins, and where the money gets missed.
